Steve founded of Harmony School with his wife, Barb, in 1974. He has served as a director of Harmony School since its founding In 1990 he cofounded Harmony Education Center which includes Rhino's Youth Center, and the National School Reform Faculty. He has served Executive Director of Harmony Education Center since its founding. In  1971 Steve was one of the first 8 graduates of Indiana University's Individualized Major Program which served as a springboard for the founding of Harmony School.

Inspired by the work of Debbie Meier, Russ is thrilled to be a part of the Harmony Meier Initiative. He currently serves as board president of the William George Agency, a residential center for at-risk teens. He also is a school board member for the George Junior Republic school, a school that successfully educates special needs children.

James Damico is Department Chair & Associate Professor of Literacy, Culture, and Language Education at the IU School of Education. He is also Director of INSPIRE Living-Learning Center. The INSPIRE Living-Learning Center opened in 2014 with the mission of creating a diverse community of motivated, creative students wanting to make a difference.

Terry, a Middle School Science teacher for 38 years, in 2009 became Coordinator of Instructional Technology for a major school corporation. He is a National School Reform Faculty (NSRF) National Facilitator. In the summer of 2005 he began doing NSRF coaches trainings around the country. Equity and democracy is a major part of NSRF’s mission. That mission led him to the Harmony-Meier Initiative.

Education is a priority for Nancy. She retired from teaching in the School Town of Munster in 2011. She holds a seat on the Board of Visitors for the Indiana University School of Education as well as IU Northwest Chancellor’s Board of Advisors. She was on the founding Board of the Munster Education Foundation, Inc. and has recently returned to that board to assist with efforts to support the public schools as they face many challenges.

Deborah Meier is currently senior scholar at New York University’s Steinhardt School of Education She has spent more than four decades working in public education as a teacher, principal, writer, advocate, and ranks among the most acclaimed leaders of the school reform movement in the U.S. She also helped found the Coalition of Essential Schools, in the 1980s, under the leadership of Ted Sizer. At Coalition schools, Meier helped foster democratic community, giving teachers greater autonomy in the running of a school, giving parents a voice in what happens to their children in schools.
